Friday, March 07, 2003Yesterday it rained ice....each tree branch, the cars, the ground were all encased in ice. The rhododendrens dripped ice, the car cover bore a bead like double fringe of icicles.
Which made this morning a bit like a miracle. The sun was up, and bright, the sky a cloudless perfect clear blue...and the world was an ice garden in bloom The trees acorss the valley looked like they were made of fresh polished silver, the trees that I stood under, looking up through the branches to the vault of sky, sparkled in every color. The world glittered and refracted.
I wish I could show it to you, I wish I could take the picture of it, one that would show everything, from the dripping of water that was steady as rain to the sorcery of the glittering trees. I would give it to you, the experience and wonder of it, if I could.
